Over 36,000 civilians have fled Sudan's Kordofan region eastern part of Darfur starting Saturday, as stated by the UN's immigration body.

The key central region connecting the country's Darfur regions and the capital region has over recent weeks become the recent fighting area in the 24-month civil conflict between the Sudanese armed forces and the militia group.

Massive Evacuation Numbers

An approximated 36,825 people fled five areas in North Kordofan region between 26 October and 31 October, per data from the International Organization for Migration.

The individuals, primarily walking, moved toward Tawila, a town west of El Fasher that is currently sheltering over 652,000 displaced people.

Escalated Military Presence

Local inhabitants of North Kordofan on Monday noted a heavy surge in both RSF and army concentration across urban and rural areas throughout the state.

Both forces are vying for control of El Obeid, the North Kordofan regional capital and a key logistics and command center that links Darfur to Khartoum.

"Today, all our forces have assembled at the Bara front here," stated an RSF member in a recently circulated video message.

Area Citizens Report Safety Fears

A area citizen of Um Smeima, located west of El Obeid, reported that the amount of RSF vehicles had risen significantly since the group's takeover of El Fasher.

"We discontinued traveling to our farms, concerned about clashes," the resident commented.

Another resident, who requested anonymity for safety concerns, also indicated that "there has been a substantial growth in army vehicles and weapons west and south of El Obeid" over the last fourteen days.

Global Alarms and Requests

A senior UN official raised the alarm last week about "large-scale atrocities" and "ethnically motivated reprisals" by RSF in Bara.

The representative cautioned about patterns comparable to patterns in Darfur, where RSF combatants have been alleged to commit mass killings, sexual violence and abductions against certain racial groups.

The spiritual head on Sunday called for an quick cessation of hostilities and the creation of relief routes in Sudan, stating that attacks on civilians and hindrances to humanitarian aid "are producing unacceptable suffering."

Sudan's ambassador to Egypt on Sunday accused RSF of perpetrating war crimes in El Fasher and declared that the Sudanese government would not negotiate with the armed faction.

The ambassador further encouraged the global community to designate the group as a terrorist group.
