Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is unclear and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the government.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a several projectiles," it added.

It said debris landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
