Slot Insists He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it's expected for concerns to be raised about his position after another convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in twelve matches, marking the club's poorest run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I have got a lot of backing from above,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to change things and get a victory naturally but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the team officials, the head coach said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “In the normal exchanges I perceive the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Failings and Player Reaction

Slot lamented familiar failings from his team in their European loss, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a phase such as this with performances like these.”

Jones concluded, “But we still have the emblem on our shirts. And until it is gone, we’re always going to fight.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to its rightful place, show everyone again the values of this club and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
