Star Refutes Anti-Vaccine Stance Following Lending His Voice To Contentious Covid Film
The "Taken" star has lent his narration to a new documentary that questions the legitimacy of immunizations and commends one-time government figure RFK Jr.
The Documentary's Contentious Origins
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the film is inspired by a bestselling book co-authored by a disgraced researcher, who became famous during the global outbreak for claims that Covid was linked to a problematic version of the seasonal immunization.
Her co-author, the executive producer, has also written books with controversial radio host the Infowars host. He wrote online praising Neeson's involvement in the documentary.
A Strong Denial
A spokesperson for Liam Neeson have released a statement firmly refuting suggestions that he subscribes to anti-vaccine beliefs.
"We all understand that corruption may occur within the pharmaceutical industry, but that must not be confused with rejection of vaccines," the response states. "Liam never has been, and remains not, against vaccines. His long work with the UN children's agency highlights his consistent support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
It continued that the actor had no hand in the documentary's narrative and that inquiries about its content should be directed to the producers.
Major Claims Featured in the Film
According to the documentary, the script read by Neeson features several provocative statements:
- It states that pro-vaccine voices have demanded "unconditional submission" to public institutions.
- It declares that "science has become highly influenced by politics."
- Kennedy is featured claiming, "The major issue with vaccines is that they are not safely tested."
- The film takes aim at pandemic restrictions, saying they caused mental anguish that resulted in thousands of lives.
- On the topic of Covid vaccines, it cites a view that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "dangerous experiments."
Past Context and Ongoing Issues
The documentary also references a historical film about AIDS medication trials on children, which was subsequently the focus of a BBC apology by the broadcaster for editorial breaches.
Last month, RFK Jr called on the CDC to change its long-held position that there is no connection between immunizations and autism spectrum disorder. This claim is repeated in the documentary, despite a new report from the World Health Organisation confirming no such link has been found.
A Past Record of Support
Contrasting the film's message, Neeson has previously shown firm endorsement for vaccines in his capacity as a Unicef global ambassador.
In 2022, he referred to vaccines as "an extraordinary achievement," stating that "The discourse about vaccines in the past few years has lost sight of how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in history."
"Plague of Corruption" concludes with Neeson's voice proclaiming, "This is not the conclusion of our story. It is the beginning of a different phase."
