The New Animated Series' Introductory Sequence Chose the Wrong Popular RPG Show Track

The Mighty Nein, the most recent animated series by Critical Role, unveiled an exciting introductory sequence. It showcases our favorite group of outcasts, misfits, and rogues fighting hard and taking names, while also hinting at multiple heart-wrenching personal histories for key figures such as Liam O'Brien's wizard Caleb, and Travis Willingham's orc warlock, the character Fjord.

All in all, the opening appears amazing. But I couldn't help feeling that something was missing in the song choice.

The intro employs "Welcome to the Continent", an exceptional composition composed by producer and singer the talented musician. It's a track originating from the official score of the same name, the second one put out by the production company's music division their music brand. It's a wonderful sentimental option, and I suspect that devotees of the second campaign will love its presence.

Personally, The Mighty Nein's opening fails to capture the excitement and energy that accompanied the second campaign's actual-play adventure. "Your Turn to Roll", composed by singer-songwriter Jason Charles Miller, was an instant classic in my view when it was first revealed in that year, and it only got better when cast member the performer added lyrics to the tune for the animated Campaign 2 opening in the later year.

Featuring vocals from Ashley Johnson, Laura Bailey, a co-star, as well as Riegel himself, the track was memorable and enjoyable. Back then, I hadn't even watched the follow-up series at that point, but this was such an earworm that I kept it on my device. It's a song that knows how to get you pumped before you dive into an installment of fantasy hijinks.

The Mighty Nein's intro with "the new song" fails to hit the same chords in my opinion. It's a grand piece of music, but based on my understanding of the group, I can't help but feel that its mood is somewhat mismatched.

Of course, the creators has stated that the animated show will have some surprises and differences from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its intro appears as among these.

The Mighty Nein will be released on the streaming service from Nov. 19. For those eager before that, or wish to prepare to get to know the characters of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the actual play are accessible on the audio platform and YouTube.
