A fundraising initiative is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort aims to send support to communities in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.

A Chance for Solidarity and an "Surprise Victory"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a opportunity to support Palestinians over the Christmas period. He noted the potential for an surprise number one.

“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”

Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.

The song was recorded in the wake of a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. Initially planned to be captured during the live event, the performance was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.

The impressive roster of performers contributing to Lullaby encompasses a range of prominent voices from the music world. All were part of the September show, which successfully generated a significant sum for humanitarian aid.

Final Touches and Availability

Lullaby was crafted by a trio of talented individuals. The song features a fusion of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.

The organizers behind the initiative have stated that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These donations will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.

“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a figure said. “We will pursue as much as possible. Obviously, the more the merrier. It all goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The context in the territory was characterized as its profound destruction, with a vast majority of infrastructure said to be levelled or seriously harmed.

“In that context, a few million doesn’t make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is primarily raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”

The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from mid-December.
